Premium cafe, coffee shops and lifestyle brand, Bluestone Lane, is on the lookout for an energetic and experienced Regional Director - West Coast, to join our Los Angeles, CA and San Francisco, CA teams overseeing our entire West Coast Region.

Australian inspired, Bluestone Lane is quickly expanding from the east to the west coast of America and beyond, making a difference to our locals' daily ritual, every day. The Regional Director will rebuild the talent and business, with an entrepreneurial spirit and relentless pursuit of operational excellence across Bluestone Lane's West Coast. This role will set standards, ensure service and product consistency by driving the key criteria across the two concepts: coffee shops and cafes. The Regional Director is a leader who holds high performance team standards and helps to achieve them by creating a coaching environment with a focus on improving every day, every moment.  

Demonstrating servant leadership; this role works side by side and trains staff on what good looks like. The Regional Director will build Aussie hospitality meeting the needs of our locals in all concepts with a focus on speed, connection, consistency, quality and cleanliness. This role is both strategic and hands-on and requires a leader who can work side by side to develop teammates and create and execute a strategy for growth in the California market.

This position will be based out of either San Francisco or Los Angeles with 50%-time travel to the other city. This is a field-based role with one day in the office for administration and meetings.

The Ideal Candidate: 

Ownership:

  • Financial Targets: with ownership of the P&L, manages COGs and meets the sales revenue and average check targets regularly. Manages labor costs and optimizes productivity of teams by having aces in places
  • Leads by example, delivers the highest level of speed, quality and recognition to our locals. Sets high standards for yourself and your team
  • Acts as a brand ambassador, role modelling Bluestone values and reflects the company's competencies & behaviors at all time
  • Establishes a constant focus on Brand, continually driving engagement, knowledge and passion for the Brand across the store team.
  • Establishes and maintains a premium environment, driving excellent execution and maintenance of cleanliness guidelines across the stores.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of schedules & payroll
  • Works closely with the Marketing & Events Team to elevate brand presence and drive traffic to stores

 

Building Hospitality:

  • Create an environment where Bluestone Lane values are represented in our interaction with our locals and community
  • With a focus on sales and service delight our customers and increase average check.
  • Deliver the Customer Value Proposition in each concept through execution of the key criteria
  • Ensuring food, beverage & store standards are always in place
  • Ensure talent in stores reflects local's needs & premium offering with a customer-centric focus
  • Develop vendor relationships and supply chain logistics, working closely with Supply Chain to centralize key processes
  • Ensure a consistent standard in place across region for stock take and inventory management 
  • Lead by example, become an accredited barista and object department of Health certification within first 90 days.

 

 Building Teams:

  • Coaches & develops a strong management team that reflect the values and behaviors of the organization who are results driven and team focused.
  • Responsible for the quality of talent in stores, ensuring positions are filled in a timely manner
  • Identifies high performers and influences their progression and development
  • Creates a stable store environment working with Management on recruiting, coaching & development skills
  • Creates succession plans to ensure business continuity and the to retain & promote top talent
  • Holds employees accountable for their performance through consistent performance management
  • Ensures administration tasks completion by self and team.
  • Communicates stores needs back to relevant BLHQ support to achieve goals. Build relationships with BLHQ to influence & impact
  • Obtains Barista Accreditation, leading by example

 

Building Local Loyalty:

  • Role model genuine and engaging local interactions, and provide feedback on how store leadership & teammates can make progress with their Locals
  • Manage by walking around, competitive shopping and understanding local environment to connect with local community generate and drive business development.
  • Utilize Yelp scores, customer feedback, and personal observation to create an action plan with store management to improve the Local experience
  • Demonstrate a Locals First attitude, leading by example, listening, creating & executing action plan for continuous improvement
  • Ensure stores in fleet are maintained

 

Measures of Success:

  • Positive comp growth in existing stores
  • Develop high performing teams with succession pipeline
  • Achieve Operational goals across 3 concepts through flawless execution of key criteria
  • AUV growth through the focus on the key criteria for each concept
  • Strong store opens and ramp to budget
  • Labor productivity, allocation and schedule management
  • GP Stability and improvement

 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • You have at least 8 years of experience in hospitality, 3+ years multi-store management preferred
  • You have proven experience achieving business results with P&L ownership
  • You are a strong talent leader and motivator who is results-driven
  • You introduce new ways of working, ideas, and are curious
  • You are a team player with an all-hands on deck attitude
  • You act with integrity, do the right thing & stand behind what you do 
  • You are someone who can be depended on and trusted; worthy of another's trust or confidence
  • You hold a relentless pursuit of achievement and overcome obstacles to achieve goals
